MUSHROOM DEFENSE+ | Organic Adaptogen-based Immunity Complex
ncapsulate® Mushroom DEFENSE+ is a powerful organic adaptogen-based immunity formula armed with nine immunity-empowering ingredients, seven of which are adaptogens.
Adaptogens help to manage the body’s stress response day-to-day by restoring balance to your adrenal glands, and ramp up the production of “good” white blood cells naturally.
This outstanding formula contains mushrooms maitake, resihi, shiitake, lion's mane, and chaga PLUS astragalus root, acerola fruit and black pepper, working synergistically to provide important vitamins, nutrients and active functional ingredients not found elsewhere, all in one convenient capsule.
The ingredients have been certified organic by the Soil Association, the UK’s leading organic certifier, meaning no toxic pesticides or fertilizers have been used. These ingredients better maintain their bioavailability and are more nutrient-dense than their non-organic counterparts.
As well as its primary immunity-boosting properties (with EFSA approved immunity claims), this special complex supports your all-round health, from cognitive function, mental well-being and energy levels, to healthy digestion, lower levels of inflammation, protection from oxidative stress and general wellness.
About the Ingredients
The coveted chaga mushroom has been used to support the immune system and boost overall health for centuries.
Scientists recently discovered that chaga has the highest concentration of superoxide dismutase or SOD compared to any other medicinal mushroom on the planet—a whopping 14 times higher concentration. SOD is a first-line-of-defense antioxidant for your immune system.
Chaga is bursting with beta-glucans, polysaccharides that have been proven to enhance immunity.
Chaga also helps with the reduction of inflammation and its antioxidant and immune supporting properties help to reduce oxidative stress on the body, making it an excellent health tonic and detoxifier.
Maitake provides strong support for a healthy immune system. It also helps with chronic fatigue. It has been used to balance out the body, for immunity, blood pressure and for normalizing blood sugar and cholesterol levels and is a source of beta-glucans and polysaccharides.
Reishi or Lingzhi
Besides being an adaptogen, one of the main benefits of reishi is its high levels of beta-glucans, boosting immunity at the cellular and molecular level according to in vivo and in vitro studies.
Arguably the most effective mushroom for managing inflammation, it works on histamine pathways, regulating immune response and immune signaling. Reishi may also be beneficial for respiratory health and fights harmful toxins by stimulating the immune system.
Shiitake is a medical mushroom that helps to lower cholesterol levels, as well as fight infection by producing interferon, a group of natural proteins that stops viruses from multiplying. One study shows that the shiitake was able to improve immune function for adults in only 30 days.
Shiitake is naturally rich in polysaccharides and beta-glucans, in particular, lentinan. It is an excellent source of copper, the antioxidant selenium, and pantothenic acid.
Shiitake also contains a chemical compound that protects DNA from oxidative damage and supports a healthy heart.
Lion's Mane helps boost the immune system by encouraging the growth of beneficial gut bacteria. It can also reduce inflammation and prevent tissue damage in the intestines, helping to improve digestion.
One of nature's most effective brain foods, it supports learning, memory, focus and concentration by assisting in the production of nerve growth factor. It can also reduce feelings of anxiety and irritability, making it a great natural solution to improve overall mental wellbeing.
A herbal tonic with active components that include flavonoids, free amino acids, trace minerals and polyphenols, astragalus root also contains anti-aging properties and supports healthy lungs.
Acerola cherry, exceptionally high in vitamin C and other antioxidants, has been proven to block 90% of free radicals that cause accelerated aging and other cell damage.
Researchers have identified nearly 150 nutritive constituents, which include bioflavonoids, proteins, mineral salts, iron, calcium and phosphorus.
It has been shown to reduce the duration and severity of colds—one of the largest meta-studies in the world showed how the antioxidants in acerola cherries can shorten a cold by 8–18% in adults and children.
Thanks to its flavonoid content, acerola cherry also helps to comfort inflammation and support smooth, healthy joints.
Black pepper is from the Piperaceae family and piperine is the alkaloid within responsible for its pungency. It increases “good” gut bacteria, boosting the immune system, and supports healthy blood sugar levels. Besides being a highly effective anti-inflammatory agent, it has been added to increase the absorption and utilisation of the ingredients in this formula.
